NUTRITION / COOKING CLASS
- Learn to prepare healthy meals and receive ingredients to cook at home
- Typically held the 2nd Thursday of each month from 1 PM to 2 PM
- Space is limited to the first 12 guests
- Taught by Patty Reid (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Licensed Dietitian)
FOOD FAIRS
- The Houston Food Bank provides a mobile truck with an assortment of food items, mainly fresh produce
- We serve between 150 and 200 families at each Food Fair
- This event counts as 1 pantry visit for the month
THANKSGIVING
- Annually, a complete Thanksgiving dinner (including a whole turkey or chicken, fresh produce, bread, and two bags of non-perishable items) is provided to nearly 1,100 families
- 600 families are recommended by 20 SBISD elementary schools to receive Thanksgiving dinner
- The remaining dinners are distributed to families in the community
- In 2022, we distributed over 64,000 pounds of food during this event
